Monkey Puzzle Nursery opened on Friday in New Cross bringing a new premium childcare offering to the area.

The nursery was founded by Arlind Marku, owner of neighbouring Monkey Puzzle Bromley, which was voted in the top-10 day nurseries in London and achieved an Ofsted rating of Good in 2016. This second location for the local entrepreneur, who grew up in New Cross, will be run by his brother Jon. Monkey Puzzle New Cross was made possible with a £145,000 funding package from HSBC. The loan was used to refurbish the rented building and fit it out with top of the range equipment and facilities for the children.

Monkey PuzzleLucy Wynn, Area Director for Business Banking in South London said: “We’re delighted to have been able to support Arlind and his family to open a second Monkey Puzzle branch in the space of a few years. We’ve been hugely impressed with his success in Bromley which has been recognised as one of the top nurseries in London. We can’t wait to see what Arlind and Jon achieve in the years to come.”

The newly launched nursery offers an all-inclusive fee structure that includes everything from nappies and wipes to fresh and healthy meals cooked on site. Extracurricular activities are also on offer including French lessons, Forest school and sports activities.

Arlind Marku, Director of Monkey Puzzle New Cross and Bromley, added: “It’s a huge personal achievement to be opening my second nursery in the area I grew up in. I know the area well and have many fond memories. I’m delighted to be able to bring a premium day care offer to New Cross, something that wouldn’t have been possible without the support of HSBC.

Jon added on the grand opening: “It was great to see so many parents, carers and local residents turn out for our opening today, all welcomed with a glass of non-alcoholic fizz with our team of childcare professionals. We hope to see many of them return and make the most of the services Monkey Puzzle New Cross has to offer.”

Monkey Puzzle New Cross is located at 296 Queens Road, SE14 5JN.
